Posaconazol ist ein Triazol-Antimykotikum, das häufig zur Behandlung invasiver Infektionen eingesetzt wird. Posaconazol ist eine Breitspektrum-Triazolverbindung, die gegen Pilze wirksam ist, indem sie das Lanosterol-14α-Demethylase-Enzym hemmt. Posaconazol ist ein Derivat von Itraconazol. Seine pharmakologischen Wirkungen sind denen von Azolen ähnlich, aber im Vergleich zu Itraconazol hat es eine stärkere Hemmwirkung auf die C14-Demethylierung von Steroiden, insbesondere bei Aspergillus. Posaconazol wurde im Vereinigten Königreich eingeführt und ist das neueste Mitglied der Azol-Klasse von Antimykotika, das auf den Markt kommt.
